We’re all familiar that Rainbows have seven vibrant colours. But what about recalling the sequence of these colours?
It’s a common struggle, often relying on visual memory or the age-old acronym we learned in school.
It is important that the kids not only knew the colours of the rainbow but could effortlessly recall their order. To address this, I have created the “Colors of the Rainbow” Poster, designed to simplify and make the order more memorable for kids.

What are the 7 colours of the Rainbow in Order?
The order of the rainbow colours is frequently searched on Google in the context of Rainbows. The Colour order from outer to inner is as follows:
- Red
- Orange
- Yellow
- Green
- Blue
- Indigo
- Violet
What’s the Easiest way to Remember the Order of the Rainbow’s colours?
The answer: an Acronym.
An acronym is a Concept that aids memory by forming a word or phrase from the initial letters of a sequence. In the case of the rainbow colours, the well-known acronym is ROYGBIV.
You can Teach kids/ Students this acronym as a Name: Roy G Biv or Expand and make a Meaningful Sentence with the Letters.
I devised a simple phrase that kids can easily remember:
“ROY Got Biscuits In Venice!”
Feel free to adapt Biscuits to “Burgers” or “Bananas” if that suits your child’s taste.
