Things you need to make the Torn Paper Penguin Craft
- Any colour Paper of your Choice. In this craft, we used origami paper. But you can use Construction paper or cardstock paper as well!
- Penguin Template
- Scissors
- Glue stick or White Glue

Instructions for making the Torn Paper Penguin Craft
Print the penguin template on White printing paper.
Next, prepare the torn paper pieces. Tear any type of paper you are using into small pieces, approximately 1.5 x 1.5 cm. Encourage kids to tear the paper freely instead of using scissors to enhance their fine motor skills.
You will need black paper for the feathers, white for the body, and orange or yellow for the feet and beak.
Once the pieces are ready, apply glue to one section of the template and start sticking the torn paper pieces one by one.
Repeat this process for each section until the entire penguin is covered. We used liquid glue, but a glue stick can be less messy and better control.
After covering all the sections, the craft is complete.
Use a Sharpie marker to highlight the eyes and, if desired, add eyelashes and eyebrows for extra character.
Finally, cut out the penguin along the outline using scissors.
For an extra touch, personalise your penguin with accessories like a paper scarf or hat.
