Things you need to make the Torn Paper Apple Craft

Any colour Paper of your Choice. In this craft, we have used Construction paper. But you can use cardstock paper as well!

Which Paper is Best for Tearing Paper Craft?

While you can use any coloured paper, each type has its pros and cons. We’ve tried many types of paper for torn paper crafts, and here’s what we’ve found:

Cardstock Paper: Very thick and a bit harder to tear, but it creates a beautiful textured edge that adds a nice touch to the craft.
Construction Paper: Easier to tear than cardstock, making it a bit more manageable for young kids.
Thin Coloured Paper or Origami Paper: Thin and perfect for little hands. It’s easy to tear into small pieces quickly, making it ideal for younger children.
Crepe Paper: Super easy to tear, with its natural texture adding an interesting look to the craft, which kids will enjoy.

No matter which paper you choose, torn paper crafts are a great way to recycle leftover scraps from previous projects!

Instructions for making the Torn Paper Apple Craft

Start by downloading the Apple Template: [Free download at the end of the post]. Print it out on a sheet of paper.

Download the Eye Template (Optional): The set includes 20 pieces. Print and cut out two eyes for your apple. These eyes can also be used for other crafts like paper plate projects, so save the extras for later.

Prepare the Torn Papers:

Take small sheets of red and green paper.

Tear them into tiny pieces, roughly 2 cm in size.

For this craft, we used thin craft paper, which is very easy to tear. You can even stack 4 to 5 pieces of paper and tear them at once to speed up the process. In just a few minutes, you’ll have plenty of torn paper pieces!

Stick the Torn Pieces:

Apply glue to the red sections of the apple.

Place the red torn pieces one by one, covering most of the area.

Repeat the same process with the green-torn paper for the leaf section.

Make the Apple’s Stem:

You can either use torn brown paper for the stem or colour it with felt-tip pens.

Add the Final Touches:

Once your apple is complete, glue on the two eyes and draw a smile with a black marker. This step is optional but makes the craft extra adorable, turning the apple into a cute character that kids will love!

Cut Out and Display: Cut out your apple and hang it up for display. This is a perfect craft for kids to make, especially during apple-picking season!

Variation: Instead of a red apple, you can make a green one!
