While Rangoli is the most commonly known name for colourful designs on floors, it is known by different names across India, reflecting each region’s unique traditions:

- Muggulu – Andhra Pradesh and Telangana
- Alpana – West Bengal
- Mandana – Rajasthan
- Aripana, Aipan – Bihar, Uttarakhand
- Chowk Purna – Madhya Pradesh
