Things you will need to make the Paper Weaving Easter Basket Craft

How to Make a Paper Weaving Easter Basket Craft

Follow this step-by-step guide with pictures to create a colourful paper-weaving Basket using 1 cm strips.

Step 1: Print the Template

Download and print the basket template on brown paper. Brown gives it a more natural woven look, enhancing the overall effect.

Step 2: Create the Weaving Slits

Use scissors or a craft knife to carefully cut slits along the reference lines on the basket. Ensure you place the sheet over a cutting mat to protect your surface.

These slits will guide your weaving.

Step 3: Cut Out the Basket and Handle

Carefully cut along the outer lines of the basket and its handle. Set them aside for assembly.

Step 4: Prepare Weaving Strips

Cut 1 cm strips of coloured paper using scissors or a paper cutter. Pastel colours work well for an Easter theme, or feel free to use bright, vibrant hues for a fun, colourful look!

I highly recommend using cardstock (at least 170 gsm) for the best results. Thin paper, like regular construction paper, may tear while weaving, making it harder to complete the craft.

Will my printer handle thick paper?
Most printers can print on thicker paper. The recommended cardstock for this craft is 170 gsm, which works well with most home printers. We personally use 170 gsm cardstock with our Epson EcoTank printer.
