Things you will need to make the Paper Weaving Apple Craft
- Paper Weaving Christmas Tree Template (Download it at the end of the post)
- Cardstock in any Green shades (for printing and weaving)
- Paper Cutter
- Scissors
- Glue
Directions to Make the Paper Weaving Christmas Tree Craft
Step 1: Print the Template
Print the Christmas Tree Weaving Template on sturdy green cardstock. A thickness of at least 175 GSM is recommended to prevent tearing and make handling easier for kids.
Step 2: Cut the Template
Using a paper cutter, cut along the dotted vertical lines on the tree template. Be careful to leave a small gap at the edges to hold the structure intact.
Step 3: Cut the Weaving Strips
Cut 1 cm-wide strips from coloured cardstock in green, yellow and Pink.
Step 4: Start Weaving
Take a strip and weave it over and under through the slits in the tree template. Repeat this process with the next strip, alternating the starting position.
Step 4: Continue Weaving
Keep adding strips until the tree is filled from the bottom to the top.
Trim any excess length protruding from the sides. Glue the ends of the strips to secure them, or leave them loose for a textured effect.
Step 5: Prepare the Tree
After cutting the excess slits, cut out the tree outline.
Step 6: Add the base
Next, Cut out a small patch of Brown paper and add it to the bottom of the Christmas Tree and your Paper weaving Christmas Tree craft is ready!
Step 7: Add Final Touches (optional)
Add the star to the top of the tree and decorate with sequins or stickers for a festive touch!
For younger kids, try 2 cm-wide strips for an easy version. Both Templates can be downloaded for Free at the end of the post
