Paper Weaving Apple Craft - {Free Template}

Summer is about to end, and kids are back in school. It is the perfect time to make some gorgeous Apple Crafts! This Paper Weaving Apple Craft is a fun way to create an Apple, perfect for enhancing fine motor skills!

Kids love weaving crafts, especially when they are creating their favourite fruit! This Craft includes Free templates in 2 difficulty levels suitable for both little Kids as well as School Kids.

Things you will need to make the Paper Weaving Apple Craft

Paper Weaving Apple Template (Download it at the end of the post)
Cardstock in any Red, Green and Brown (for printing and weaving)
Paper Cutter
Scissors
Glue

Directions to make the Paper Weaving Apple Craft

Print the Template: Print out the Apple Weaving Template on thick, Sturdy paper in Red. It is recommended to use cardstock of at least 175 GSM thickness; otherwise, it may tear while weaving and will not be easy for kids to handle.

Cut the Template: On the Apple Template, you’ll see vertical dotted lines. Cut along these lines using a paper cutter, placing the template on a cutting mat. Remember to cut only along the lines and leave a gap at the end.

Prepare the Apple: After cutting the lines, cut the apple out along the edges. Also, cut out the stem and leaf on Brown and Green Paper.

Cut the Strips: Next, cut a few 2cm wide strips from cardstock in Red or Maroon. We use a paper trimmer to cut the strips, but if you don’t have one, mark 2cm lines and cut them with scissors.

Start Weaving: Take a strip and insert it into the slits of the apple template, weaving it over and under until you reach the other end.

Continue Weaving: Take the second strip and repeat the process, alternating the side you start on. See the image or video for clarity.

Finish Weaving: Continue weaving all the strips until the apple template is tightly packed with paper Strips from bottom to top.

Trim and Glue: Cut the extra strips projecting from the front and back sides. You can either stick the ends to a base or leave it as it is.

Final Touches: Glue the stem and leaf, and the apple is ready!

For a Variation, you can also create a Green Apple! Enjoy!
