What is a busy bag?

If you’ve never heard of a busy bag before, it’s simply a bag filled with simple and engaging activities that will keep your little ones entertained while you’re on the go.

It’s small, handy, and perfect for taking with you on trips to restaurants, planes, or anywhere else you need to keep your kids occupied.

So without further ado, let’s dive into our busy bag!

Things you need to make Letter A Busy Bag

  • A Letter Busy Bag Printable (Download for free at the end of this post!)
  • Card stock Paper
  • C6 Envelopes (for storage)

Simply print out the printable on cardstock, cut out the cards, and you’re ready to go! While laminating is an option, we recommend using thick cardstock to make the cards sturdy enough to use multiple times.

Once you have your cards ready, it’s time to play!

How to play?

The pack comes with 16 cards, which need to be sorted onto the base sheet. With two different levels of difficulty, this busy bag is perfect for kids of different skill levels.

To begin, have your child start with stage one cards. These cards allow kids to sort uppercase and lowercase apples onto matching plates. Your child can choose an apple card and place it onto the matching plate, which helps them practice recognizing the letter A in both cases.

Once your child has mastered stage one, they can move on to stage two. In stage two, kids will sort four different types of apples based on their case and colour.

There are 16 cards in total – 8 red and 8 green – with 4 uppercase A and 4 lowercase a cards in each colour. This means there are 4 unique sets that need to be sorted onto the base.

This activity is challenging but also fun for little ones.

And when you’re done playing, simply store the cards in a C6 envelope for safekeeping until next time.

Initially, I had planned to create a Busy Bag activity for each letter of the alphabet, but we ended up creating Busy Books instead. Busy books are amazing for Toddlers and Preschoolers who love interactive Activities!
