Things needed to make Handprint Hedgehog Craft

Hedgehog Template (Download at the end of the post)
Different shades of Brown Cardstock Paper
Glue stick
Scissors
Black Fine marker pen

Directions to make this Handprint Hedgehog Craft

Start by downloading the Free Hedgehog Craft Template at the end of this post and printing it out. Use the Template to cut the hedgehog’s body and legs from brown craft paper.

For the eyes, use the cutout provided in the template.

Next, trace your child’s hand on dark brown paper and cut out the handprints. You’ll need a minimum of four handprints per hedgehog. This example features handprints from a six-year-old, which are fairly large.

For younger children, such as toddlers, their handprints may be smaller, so you might need six to eight to fully cover the hedgehog’s body. Alternatively, you can scale down the template to make a smaller hedgehog for little hands.

Begin by glueing the eyes and legs onto the hedgehog’s body.

Next paste the handprints one by one onto the back of the hedgehog, fanning out the fingers to resemble spikes.

Finish by placing the last handprint lower down to cover the back half of the body fully.

Use a black marker to add a nose and a cute smile, completing your hedgehog craft. For added flair, gently roll the fingers for a 3D effect to make the spikes pop.

Though cutting out the handprints can be a bit time-consuming, this adorable craft is a special way to preserve memories.
