Halloween Handprint Crafts for Kids

Each craft has a similar process with variations in cutting, colour, features, and opening direction. Once you try a couple, you’ll quickly get the hang of them. Detailed step-by-step instructions and photos are included with a template provided at the end.

How to Make a Halloween Frankenstein Handprint

Fold a Green (or neon) sheet in half. Place your child’s hand with a pinky finger near the folded edge, trace it, and cut it out, leaving the pinky edge uncut so the card can open from there.

Paint the top of the hand black for hair, and use a black marker to give it a defined edge.

Cut screws from grey or black paper and attach them to each side of the head.

Use the eyes provided in the template or draw your own.

Draw a smile and add a few “stitches” with the black marker. Open the card, write your Halloween message, and voila—your Frankenstein handprint card is ready!

How to Make a Handprint Ghost

Fold a white sheet in half, with your child’s wrist along the fold, and trace their hand.

Cut out the handprint, leaving the wrist edge uncut so the card can open.

Cut out a black hat and attach it to the top. Add an orange or purple band around the hat for a Halloween touch.

Stick on the eyes (use cutouts or draw your own) and add a friendly smile!

How to Make a Handprint Jack-o’-Lantern

Fold an orange sheet in half and trace your child’s hand with the wrist along the fold.

Cut out the handprint, leaving the wrist edge uncut for the card opening.

Add a brown paper stem and green strips for pumpkin vines.

Draw eyes, a nose, and a mouth—and your jack-o’-lantern handprint is complete!

How to Make a Handprint Mummy Handprint

Fold the black paper with the wrist along the fold line to trace and cut out the handprint – Leaving the wrist part uncut for the card to open.

Attach two eyes, then glue on thin white strips across the hand randomly for “bandages.” Trim any excess.

Open the card, write your spooky message, and you’re done!
