Things You’ll Need to Create the 7 Continents Crafts
To get started on this exciting project, gather the following materials:
- Continent Craft Printable (available in our printable shop)
- Card stock (printing)
- 2 Blue Coloured Construction paper or Card stock paper(A4 or US letter size)
- Scissors
- Glue stick
- Markers (Optional)

Step-by-Step Guide to Making a Continent Craft
Kids will need about 45 Minutes to make this project. It can be a great group project with a team of 3 or 4 kids working on their continents display.
Print the Pages
Start by downloading and printing the Continent Craft Template on cardstock paper. The printable includes both a coloured and a black-and-white version. Choose the one you need.
If using the black-and-white version, let kids colour the continents before moving on to the next step.
Cut Out the Continents
Carefully cut out all the continent shapes, labels, and ocean names from the printable.
- Pay special attention when cutting the inner edges of Europe and Asia, as they need to fit together like a puzzle.
- The other continents can be roughly cut.
Make the Paper Squares
The printable also includes cutouts to create squares for a raised 3D effect. Cut them out as one whole section.
- Use a ruler to fold along the dotted lines to create creases.
- Then, fold in the opposite direction to form a square shape.
- Cut the piece into individual strips.
- Fold them again using the creases and glue the edges to make a square.
This step might feel tricky at first, but it gets easier with practice. Pre-folding the lines makes the process much smoother.
You will need about 10 to 12 pieces.
Attach the Paper Squares to the Continents
- Stick one square behind small continents and two or more for larger continents using glue.
- Now, the continents and labels are ready to be placed on the background.
Prepare the Base
Stick two A4-sized blue cardstock sheets side by side (along the longer side) to represent the ocean.
Assemble the Continents
- First, place the continents on the base to check their positions.
- Adjust as needed to fit the map layout.
- Apply glue on the paper squares and press them onto the base one by one.
- This step is a great opportunity to talk about the location of each continent and the countries they include.
Add Continent and Ocean Labels
- Stick the continent labels on top of the raised continents using glue.
